Why do we weigh our vehicles and trailers

An overweight or unbalanced load can become quite unstable and dangerous in the smallest amount of time, ask any truck driver how much they care about their load being safe and they will tell you alot. 

Will you be insured in the event of an accident or roll over? Insurance companies take this very seriously and you may be out of pocket the whole amount plus any third party damage if they deem you to be overweight. 

Your brand new caravan has a warranty for how it left the factory. Any modifications or additions that deem your caravan overweight can void this warranty. 

All registrations have a range of capacities that make up the gross amount the manufacturer deemed safe for the structure of the vehicle/trailer. GVM, GCM, ATM, GTM are some terms you may have noticed on your registration papers or compliance plates. These are very important numbers to know and understand.
